Koala Painting

Koala 14.04.2016

£100 + P&P

Hi everyone – so sorry for disappearing for what feels like years and years. I have no excuses except work, work, work. I felt a massive creative block recently but I’m hoping that I can get back to painting soon. The warm, sunny weather does wonders.

I hope you like this painting. It’s my first attempt at a koala, which I find surprising given my love for Australia. I did it as a sister painting to my ‘possum’ painting a few years ago, which was one of my first ever paintings.

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your 2016!

This is a 50x40cm acrylic painting on stretched canvas, featuring a black tree on a purple background with pink flowers. I created it for display in my first exhibition in the Sockette gallery, Loughborough, and I’d love anyone in Loughborough or nearby areas to pop in and pay it a visit! I’ve also got a number of other paintings on display, and I’ll do another post about that soon!

Art of the Week #13: Kerry Nicholson

Good afternoon! This week, there were a few paintings and photographs that I found on Twitter and Instagram and wanted to share, but this acrylic Koi painting really caught my eye. I think in part it was because it reminded me of Mona’s painting. Obviously, both paintings are gorgeous, but as both were created with different mediums and in different styles, I had a lot of fun comparing and contrasting.

This painting was created by Australian artist Kerry Nicholson for his wife. She likes it and is keeping it, so though you can’t take it away from her, you can certainly enjoy the image! The painting took six hours to complete, and level of detail involved, including the tree reflections in the water, is undeniably amazing. It was made with Atelier interactive acrylic on a 96×48 cm aluminum sign panel. Interestingly, as Kerry pointed out to me, “The Atelier interactive is really good to use, as you can make it behave like oil paint in that you can make it stay wet and therefore blend it just by using a fine mister.”

So now I’m going to have to go out and buy some Atelier, because i’m incredibly curious to give them a try.

I hope you all have an lovely weekend.

Purple Flowers

Hi, all! I just wanted to share this photo with you, regardless of how terrible the quality and angle may be. It’s a small painting I completed ages ago and completely forgot about – I gave it away as a Christmas present and rediscovered it this past weekend.

Art of the Week #12: Nimue Fichtenbauer

It’s Friday yet again, and more and more people seem to be talking about Christmas. It’s only September, but this frantic present-related panic seems to come about earlier each year. For some inspiration on what to buy your loved ones this Christmas, I’ve got another piece of artwork to share with you!

This piece is by Nimue Fichtenbauer, and it’s acrylic paint on canvas. As an animal lover, I couldn’t really resist this painting. It’s part of Nimue’s ‘Waterworld’ series, and features Maya the Tigress. The original has been sold, but Nimue has high-quality metallic prints available. If like me, you are attracted to the powerful and wild look of the painting, Nimue works under the name TigressART and has a number of other beautiful tiger-related paintings available. Follow her on Facebook, on Twitter and visit her website here.

Paintings for Sale!

Hello, everyone, on this rainy-but-happy Bank Holiday Monday afternoon!

I’ve been making the rounds on Facebook, Twitter, and various online groups to let you know that I’m having a little bit of a sale on my paintings.

I’m planning on moving house within the next year, and as such I need to start shifting some of the paintings I have cluttering up my spare room. They’re not getting any love at the moment, and I’m hoping to find a happy home for each painting!

I’m open to offers, so please feel free to make one! I just want my paintings go to someone who would really like one in their home 🙂

It would also free up some room for me to create some new paintings for my exhibition in January.

To see what I have to offer, please click here.

Thank you for visiting, everyone, and here’s hoping you all have a great week!
